SID Billing
sid-billing appears when a payment could not be completed or a subscription has lapsed. Your dashboard remains visible and your historical data is safe, but recording new visits may pause until the subscription is restored.
What triggers sid-billing
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. If the renewal payment does not go through — because a card expired, a card number changed, a bank declined the transaction, or the payment method was removed — the subscription enters a lapsed state. sid-billing is the dashboard's way of surfacing that state so you know action is needed.
sid-billing can also appear if a subscription was explicitly cancelled and the period has now ended. A cancelled subscription means you chose to stop service; the dashboard shows sid-billing when the cancellation takes effect at period end. If the cancellation was unintentional — or if you want to resume — the path is to choose a plan at /pricing.
Less commonly, sid-billing appears during a temporary hold placed on an account pending payment verification. This is a short state that typically resolves automatically. If it persists for more than a day without a clear payment failure on your billing record, contact support.
What happens to your data
Historical visit counts, source data, error signals, and all other dashboard data accumulated before the billing issue are retained. A lapsed subscription does not delete data. You can still log into the dashboard, navigate to your sites, and view historical counts for any period before the lapse.
New beacon recording is what pauses. While the subscription is in a lapsed state, beacons from your sites may not be counted. The gap in your dashboard — a flat count during the period the billing issue persisted — reflects this pause. Once the subscription is restored, recording resumes. Data from during the lapse is not retroactively recovered: those page loads were not counted and their counts are simply absent from the record.
How to resolve sid-billing
Log into your dashboard. Look for a billing or subscription section in the account or admin panel. This section shows your current subscription status, the last payment attempt, and any error message from the payment processor. If a payment method needs to be updated — new card number, new expiry date — update it there and the system will attempt renewal.
If you need to choose a new plan, go to /pricing. Selecting and completing a plan starts a new subscription immediately. The new subscription restores recording from that point forward. Historical data from before the lapse is unaffected.
If the payment method is correct and you believe the payment should have gone through, check with your bank or card issuer. Transactions from subscription services are sometimes declined by bank-side fraud prevention, especially after a long gap or a processor change. Asking your bank to approve transactions from the processor resolves this class of decline without needing to change your payment method.
Grace period before recording pauses
When a renewal payment fails, there is a short window during which recording continues while the payment system retries the charge. This grace period gives automatic retries time to succeed before any visible interruption occurs. If the payment succeeds during a retry, the subscription renews normally and you may never see sid-billing at all.
If all retries fail within the grace window, the subscription lapses and recording pauses. The length of the grace period is determined by the payment processor's retry schedule and is not directly configurable. The practical effect is that a single declined payment does not immediately cut off recording — you have time to update your payment method while retries are in progress.
Troubleshooting
If you updated your payment method but sid-billing persists, the update may not have triggered a retry yet. Wait for the next automatic retry attempt, which typically occurs within a day. You can also contact support to request a manual retry after a payment method update if you need recording to resume more quickly.
If you believe your subscription is active and payments are going through but sid-billing still appears, log out and log back in. A stale dashboard session may be showing a cached billing state that has since been resolved. A fresh session will reflect the current subscription status. If sid-billing appears again after re-login with a working subscription, contact support with your account details.
If you see sid-billing after returning from a period of low traffic where you had not checked the dashboard, the subscription may have lapsed during that period. Check the billing section for the date of the last successful payment and compare it to your billing period. If the lapse date is before your most recent high-traffic period, some of that traffic was not counted during the lapse window.
