Exhausted

When your monthly visit allowance is fully used, new beacons stop being counted until the billing period resets. Your dashboard stays accessible and shows everything recorded before counting stopped.

What happens when you hit the limit

The server tracks how many real page view events have been recorded against your account in the current billing period. When that count reaches the allowance defined on /pricing, the server stops incrementing counters. Beacons continue to arrive — the script on your site keeps firing on every page load — but the server receives them, checks the allowance, and discards them without recording. No error is returned to the visitor's browser. The visit appears to complete normally from the visitor's perspective.

Your dashboard remains fully accessible. You can still log in, view all your sites, and read the counts that were recorded before the limit was reached. The board shows an accurate picture up to the point counting stopped. It is a partial picture of the period, not a corrupted one — the numbers you see are correct for the time they cover.

Bot traffic does not consume your allowance. The bot filter runs before the quota check. An identified bot beacon is categorized and counted separately, not against your page view allowance. If your site receives heavy crawler traffic, that traffic does not push you toward the limit. Only page views that passed the bot filter and were counted as real visitor traffic consume quota.

How you find out you are close or at the limit

The dashboard shows a quota indicator near the top of the account settings page. As you move through the billing period and approach the limit, the indicator updates to reflect current usage. When the allowance is exhausted, the indicator changes state to show that counting has stopped.

There is no email notice — StatelessID does not store a billing address or inbox for your account. You learn your status from the dashboard quota indicator and from the board totals flattening while traffic continues. Check account settings if you suspect you are near the cap.

You can also monitor usage proactively by comparing the daily visit totals in your dashboard to your monthly allowance on /pricing. If you know your typical daily volume and you can see roughly how many days are left in the period, you can estimate whether the remaining allowance will last. The quota section in account settings shows the exact current usage figure and the period end date.

What to do when the allowance is exhausted

StatelessID sells one monthly plan with a fixed visit allowance. There is no upgrade path, second unit, or mid-cycle purchase to raise the cap. If you regularly exhaust the allowance before the period ends, tighten dashboard filters — bot blocking, country limits, and error beacons off — so the visits you care about fit inside the single allowance.

Beacons that arrived and were discarded while the allowance was exhausted are not recoverable. When the next billing period starts, counting resumes automatically from zero. The gap in the record during the exhausted period stays a gap.

If you do not want to change filters and can wait for the period to reset, counting resumes automatically at the start of the next billing period. There is no manual reset. The period end date is shown in your account settings.

Resetting at period end and planning ahead

Every billing period starts with a fresh allowance at the level shown on /pricing. Unused allowance from one period does not carry forward and cannot compensate for running out in a future period. Each period is independent. The reset is automatic — no action is needed on your part.

Planning ahead means knowing your traffic pattern well enough to keep real human visits inside the single monthly allowance. If your site has seasonal peaks — a holiday rush, an annual conference, a product launch cycle — use dashboard filters before the peak so bot and noise traffic does not burn the pool you need for real pages.

If you are new to the service and unsure whether the allowance fits, watch the first full billing cycle on the board and compare daily totals to the cap on /pricing. Adjust filters early rather than discovering exhaustion on your busiest day.

Troubleshooting

If the dashboard shows your quota as exhausted but you do not believe your site had that much real visitor traffic, check two things. First, look at the referrer and source data for the period — a spike in traffic from an unexpected source may indicate a viral share, a link from a high-traffic site, or a pickup by an aggregator you were not aware of. Second, check the bot count to see whether the bot filter may have missed some automated traffic. Neither is a defect, but both explain sudden quota use.

If you upgraded to resolve an exhausted quota and the dashboard still shows counting as stopped after a few minutes, reload the account settings page. The quota ceiling update and the dashboard state indicator may not refresh in the same instant. If the problem persists beyond five minutes after the upgrade processed, contact support with your access key and the details of the upgrade.

If you did not receive any email notification before the quota was exhausted, check the contact email in your account settings and verify it is current. The notifications go to that address. If the address is correct and the emails are not arriving, check your spam or junk folder. Email delivery from subscription platforms is sometimes caught by aggressive filtering.
